Mr. Okonek had not been feeling well for the past week but his condition was not such as to arouse the anxiety of his aged wife. Tuesday morning he arose at the usual hour and was about the place until about eleven o'clock when he complained of violent pains and took to his bed. Shortly before noon he called to his faithful wife and when she reached his bedside the spirit had taken its flight. Mr. Okonek was born in Poland seventy-two years ago and came to this country while yet in his thirties. He first settled in Pennsylvania, moving to Chicago right after the big fire. Thirty-five years ago he came to Benton county, settling in Alberta where he has since resided. Beside the aged widow the deceased leaves to mourn his death nine grown sons and two daughters, they being, Lawrence and Felix, of Alberta; Paul, Joseph and Thomas of Beauchamp, Sask.; Stanley, Peter, Frank and Paul who are at present working in the woods; Mrs. Wm. Seppelt of Graham, and Tennie, who resides at home. The funeral will be held this morning from St. Casimer's church, Gilman, and the remains will be interred in the cemetery at that place."
