John Downes pioneer resident and perhaps the oldest citizen of this community 

Passed away: at home, Wednesday afternoon 
Cause of Death: lingering illness, advanced age.
Born: May 1843, County Clare
Age: 91 
Arrived: Graceville in 1890
Survived by: 2 daughters: Mrs Rob. McMahon, Graceville
                          Mrs. J. Downes, Cass Lake
                  2 sons: Walter, Graceville
                          William, Glasgow, Mont.
