FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dan Submitted: 2001 ========================================================================= FINAL RITES FOR MICHAEL DOWNES HELD ON FRIDAY Funeral services for Michael Walter Downes, who died April 4 at Holy Trinity Hospital were conducted from Holy Rosary Church at 9 p.m. Friday, with Father G. Kunz officiating. Interment was at Lakeside cemetery. Mr. Downes was born July 20,1889, in Kandiyohi County, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Downes. He came to Graceville in 1890, and farmed in this area for many years. He served in World War I and was a member of the American Legion. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Nell Downs, Cass Lake; many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Keith Kennelly, Lee Schwagerls, Tom Casey, Roy Andrews, LeRoy Billiet and Harry Rine. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were; his sister, Mrs. Nell Downs; Mr. and Mrs. Wilford and daughter; Frances Cook; Steve Daugherty and Mike Downes, Willmar; and others from Graceville, Barry, Collis and Nassau.
