FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy VanVleet Submitted: January 2005 ========================================================================= Meta Kohler Hamann September 23, 1899 to January 27, 1988 Final Rites for Meta Hamann Held Jan. 30th Funeral services for Meta Hamann, 88, of Ortonville were held last Saturday, January 30, 1988 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ortonville. Officiating was Paston Donald Johnson. Special music was provided by Paul Hamann. Congregational Hymns were also sung. Pallbearers were W. E. Strube, Arno Strube, William Felton, Reuben Schellberg, Ray Hamann and Richard Hamann, Jr. Spring Interment will be in Mound Cemetery, Ortonville. A public visitation and prayer service was held Friday at the Larson Funeral home, Ortonville. Meta Ella Hamann was born Sept. 25, 1899, in Holloway to Frank and Anne (Ehlert) Koehler. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Holloway and confirmed at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fairfield Twp., Swift Co. Meta attended school at Holloway. She did various household work before her marriage to William C. Hamann on June 4, 1925 at Holloway. They made their home south of Big Stone City, S. D. where they were engaged in farming. While living in South Dakota, they were members of St. John's Lutheran Church, Alban Twp., Grant Co. In 1941 they moved north of Ortonville and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ortonville. Meta was active in the church Altar Society and Ladies Aid. Her hobbies included flowers, gardening, sewing and craftwork. She was a person of many talents. Meta passed way Jan. 27 at Ortonville Municipal hospital. Servivors include her sons Arthur of Ortonville and Lorance of Zap, North Dakota; daughter Elda , Mrs. Martin Schmidt of Ortonville, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Preceeding her in death was her husband William in 1962; son Marvin; 1 grandchild; her parents; 2 sisters and 1 brother ========================================================================= Copyright Judy VanVleet 2006.
