Kaercher, life-long resident of Ortonville, who passed away shortly after 4 o'clock, Tuesday morning at his home here, will be conducted from the Methodist church in this city Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. J. Thomas Dixon, officiating. Internment will be in the family lot in Mound cemetery. Death was the result of a heart attack. John Michael Kaercher was born in Ortonville on January 14, 1885, one of eleven children, a son of the late Aaron B., and Gertrude M. Kaercher. He spent his childhood on the home farm southwest of this cfity and grew to manhood in Big Stone county. On June 12, 1951, (definite misprint), he was united in marriage with Rachel Rehnke of Ortonville. To the union two children were born, a daughter, Muriel and a son, John Russell. John Kaercher was a prominent real estate dealer and businessman here for more than 40 years, being first associated with his father as a member of the firm of A. B. Kaercher & Co., and later with his brother, R. C. Kaercher. Because of his honesty and sincerity he acquired countless friends throughout the county and wherever he went. He was a friendly man.. His life was exemplified by his generosity and unselfish consideration of others. He was one of the founders of the Ortonville Independent, serving for many years as secretary-treasurer. He was a member of the Methodist church and of Lakeview Lodge No. 143, A. F. & A. M. Surviving him are his wife, Rachel, daughter of Muriel (Mrs. Donald Sherman) of Clinton, son Russell of Wheaton, and three grandsons. He also leaves to mourn his loss, three sisters and four brothers, Grace Kaercher Davis, St. Paul, Mrs. Frank Brunkow, Minneapolis, Mrs. Carl J. Eastvold, R. C. Kaercher, L. A. Kaercher, and C. E. Karcher, all of Ortonville and L. D. Kaercher of Hastings.
