FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Hoffman Submitted: October 2007 ========================================================================= MAATZ, Minna Last rites were held Sunday, November 11 for Mrs. Fred Maatz, Sr. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walter township with Rev. H.C. Sporleder officiating. Herman Ohm, Ben Hiepler, Carl Zahn, Fred Rakow, Gust Hillman and Carl Koetsch were pallbearers for Mrs. Maatz, who died November 7, 1951, at her home in Bellingham. She was 88. Minna Buck was born October 23, 1863, the daughter of Henry and Sophia Buck at Hamburg, Minn. in Sibley county. On March 1, 1889 at Hamburg she married Fred Maatz, Sr., who passed away in 1942. The same year of her marriage she and her husband moved to Lac qui Parle county where she resided until the time of her death. A quartet consisting of Mrs. Harvey Schultz, Mrs. Howard Sorterberg, Hertha Nitz, Mrs. Ewald Stock sang "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "Wo Findet Die Seele Die Heimath Die Ruh" at the funeral. Mrs. Maatz had been a life long member of the Lutheran church. Surviving her are her children, Fred W., Henry, Anna, Mrs. H.C. Zahn; Bertha, Mrs. Paul Ross, all of Bellingham and Elizabeth, Mrs. Martin P. Goetsch of Nassau, also one sister, Mrs. Charles Kibler of Nassau, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
