FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy VanVleet Submitted: January 2005 ========================================================================= Helmuth Strube July 5, 1901 to January 1971 Rites Held for Helmuth Strube Last Saturday Funeral services for Helmuth Strube, 69, of rural Big Stone City, South Dak., were held last Saturday morning, Jan. 23rd at the Trinity Lutheran church in Ortonville with Rev. L. F. Mueller officiating. Burial was in the Milbank cemetery. A mixed quartet sang at the services and the congregation sang a hymn accompanied by Mrs. Weston Schneck, organist. Mr. Strube died very suddenly at his farm residence on Wednesday afternoon. Helmuth Carl Frank Strube was born on July 5, 1901 in Alban Township, son of August and Martha Strube. He was married to Katherine Zielike at Ortonville on March 4, 1941. After their marriage, they made their home in Big Stone Township in Grant County near Big Stone City. Mr. Strube was an active farmer interested in cattle breeding and was a Director of the South Dakota Holstein Association, president of the Northeast District Holstein Association and a president of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He had served also as a member and secretary of the Big Stone #5 School Board. He is survived by his wife, two sisters, Frieda (Mrs. Ted Zielike) of Big Stone City, Selma (Mrs. William Felton) of Ortonville, three brothers, Edward of Jordan, Minn., Wenhard (W.E.) of Big Stone City, and Arno of Ortonville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers were Rodney Strube, Glenn Strube, Harvey Strube, Dean Felton, Don Felton, and Richard Zielike.
