The survivors are: One daughter, Miss Myrtle Barnes of this city and a grandson, Robert Barnes Pleasants of Kansas City, and one nehphew, Charles E. Barnes of Sulphur Springs, Ark. During his lifetime he made many lasting friends. The funeral will be held from Landkamers Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. R. E. Dorn officiating. The remains will be laid to rest in Glenwood Memorial Park." No. 2: Mankata Free Press, 1/7/1938 p. 9:6 " ? (Part missing--- TUES. AFTERNOON" ____________ "The funeral of the late O. L. Many beautiful floral tributes were sent by relatives and friends. The burial took place in Glennwood Memorial Park." ______________________________________________ Submitter's note: We have been unable to find anything more on his two daughters Esther and Myrtle. His wife's surname may be Tanner, Tonner. or Tonnar. We have found Tonner on her death certificate, and her father listed as Phillip Tonner of Germany, mother unk. She was listed as b. in Mankato on 12/17/1872 and dd. 1/22/1928. Blue Earth lists a Geo Tonner, 2nd SS (2nd Comp. Minn. Sharp Shooters. [My gr. grandfather's unit] which became Co. L. Hiram Berdans United States Sharp Shooters and attached to the 1st Minn. Vol. which later became 1st Minn. Inf. Reg. 1881 Wisc. Bio., Georger Tonnar, states family from Grand Dutchy of Luxenberg, Germany, he born 1843, parents to Mankato 1858. (Cenus does not jibe with this obit. Only two Tonner listed and Anna found with Tonnar in another Co.). Geo. was a druggist and quite high up on the social and occupational list. If you want his summary, can give, but it may be factually off a bit. One of the most fascinating things is that David Barnes, Williams brother had a son Asa Ira Barnes in the Maine inf. Asa, my ggg Elbridge S. Barnes and George Tonnar were all at the battle of Fredericksburg on 12/13/1862, and probably did not know it. My gr. gr father was wounded there. Hope the above came through.
