He was the oldest son of Mr. [John C.] and Mrs. Rosamond [Chapin] Lovell [at one time resided in Nevada, Iowa]. His early years were spent on his father's farm [in] Hustisford, and his education was obtained at the village school and at the Ripon College. In 1883 he returned to Wisconsin and on September 19, 1883 was united in marriage with Miss Clementine Whitcomb. Returning with his bride, they spent a few months at Garden City, moving next spring to the farm they purchased just East of this village, which has since been his home. He passed away the morning of November 14, 1929 after a long illness. As a young man he united with the M. E. church of which he was an active member.
