Nutt Mrs. Abigail Nutt departed this life on Jan. 9, 1917, at the home of her son Ed, in this city at the age of 69 years. She has been a resident of Blue Earth county for over 50 years, moving to this state from Illinois in 1865 with her parents George and Lucinda Trimble. The trip was made overland by horse and ox teams, as was the custom in those days. She was married July 5th, 1866, to the late Merritt Nutt, who passed away Feb. 23, 1915. Their early married life was spent on a farm near Willow Creek, thirty-six years ago this spring, then moved to Lake Crystal and having resided here since. She was one of a family of six girls and two boys, three sisters and one brother still survive her, Alfred Trimble of San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. Addie Baker of Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. Elizabeth Foster of Browns Valley , Minn.; and Hattie Sylvester of this place. She also leaves four children, Charles of St. Paul, Minn.; Edwin, Frank and Mrs. M. J. Barney of Lake Crystal; also 7 grand-children and one great grand-daughter. After the death of her husband two years ago she has resided in the family residence at the corner of Humprhrey and Logan streets, but in December her failing health necessitated greater attention and she moved to her son's residence where every thing possible was done for her comfort and welfare. The interment was in Crystal View cemetery, in the family lot. The services were conducted by Rev. Paden of Mankato assisted by Rev. Chapman of this place. Miss Lizabelle Norman, Mrs. Stella Thomas assisted by Mrs. Stanley Jones accompanist furnished the music. The funeral was conducted by Hugh Jones.
