Charles Francis Porter, the six weeks' old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Porter, died very suddenly last night of heart failure. The funeral will be held at Vernon Center [MN] next Monday. Porter on 2-8-2001] Source #2: Newspaper Mankato Ledger; 29 November 1911 Page 1: Column 3; Reads as follows: The funeral of Charles Francis Porter, the infant son, of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Porter of Mankato occurred at this place [Vernon Center, MN] Monday afternoon. The little one was some six or eight weeks old and had been in perfect health until Saturday morning, when it was taken suddenly ill and died before medical aid could be procured. The body was brought to this place on the noon train [from Mankato] Monday and the interment made at the Vernon [Center] cemetery, following a short song and prayer at the grave. Mr. and Mrs. Porter were former residents of this place [Vernon Center, MN] and have a large circle of friends here who will sympathize with them in their sorrow.
