She passed away on September 16, 2005, at the age of 79 years in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Alice is survived by sisters-in-law, Irma Schwantes of Fulda and Ella Berdan of New Ulm; a brother-in-law, Harold Berdan of New Ulm; special friends, Ed and Mary Dagner and Mike and Ann Guldan, all of New Ulm; and my numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence, on April 18, 1982; a daughter, Karen Yvonne Berdan in 1951; sisters, Leona Borchert, Minnie Glenndening, Marcella Glenndening, and Marilyn Stelton; and by brothers, Art Zupfer, Harry Zupfer, and Frank Schwantes. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, September 19, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, Minnesota, Father Edward Ardolf officiating. Casketbearers were Rick Schwantes, Phil Liesch, Sandy Herzberg, Jeff Berdan, Tammy Helget, and Paul Schwantes.
