JOHN BERG DIES TUESDAY AT LOCAL HOME Last rites for Mrs. John (Mary) Berg, Sr., 89, will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Cathedral by Msgr. Joseph Ettel. Mr. Berg died Tuesday night at the St. Alexander Home for the Aged where she had been for 2 1/2 years. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Prokosch on Sept. 1, 1870 in Sigel Township. Her marriage to John Berg was solemnized 68 years ago in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. They farmed in Sigel Township until 25 years ago when they moved to New Ulm. Her husband died in 1953. She was a member of the Sleepy Eye and New Ulm Christian Mothers Societies. Six of their 13 children are deceased. Those surviving are John Berg, Milford Township; Mrs. Anton (Amelia) Braulick, Stark Township; George, rural Sleepy Eye; Mrs. Robert (Martha) Wilfahrt; Florian and Roman, New Ulm; and Leonard, rural Sleepy Eye. There are 26 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Visitation may be made at Forster Funeral Home beginning Friday afternoon until the time of the service. A prayer hour will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the Sleepy Eye Catholic Cemetery.
