FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Pamela Kebis Submitted: March 2003 ========================================================================= Unknown Brown Co., MN Paper, January 1910 John Gareis, Sr. succumbed to an intestinal trouble last Saturday, at the home of his son in the town of Milford, which was aggravated by old age. Deceased was born in Seibelsdorf, Bavaria, Germany, consequently attained the age of 77 years. In 1854 he was married to Friederike Backer, who died about fifteen years ago. In 1873 the family emigrated to America, coming directly to Brown county and settling on a farm in the town of Milford, where he resided continuously ever since. The surviving children are: Mrs. B. J. Bueschel, of Lakeville, Minn.; Mrs. Wm. Magnus, of Webster, S.D.; Mrs. Gottfired Eiserbeck and Mrs. Paul Wiedenmann, of Echo; Mrs. Albert Warnecke, of Fertile, Minn.; Fred F. Gareis, of Long Beach, Cal.; Mrs. Henry Knees and John Gareis, Jr. of the town of Milford, and Mrs. Christ. Sprenger, of this city. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, interment being made in the Lutheran cemetery.
