THERESA HUELSKAMP Mrs. Theresa Huelskamp, nee Kachelmeier, on of the few remaining pioneers of Lafayette township, succumbed to the effects of a paralytic stoke at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alb. Huelskamp, North Minnesota street, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. She was stricken that morning at 7'oclock in the vestibule of Holy Trinity Catholic church, where she wanted to attend services. Prior to that time she had enjoyed good health. Deceased was born at Vollmau, Bohemia, Austria, November 1, 1837, being past 86 years of age when the final summons came. She emigrated to America with her parents the late Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Kachelmeier, in 1856 and the family located on a farm in Lafayette township. The following year, she was married at Mankato to Frank Huelskamp, and moved to the present Elmer, Klossner farm in Lafayette township, which Mr. Huelskamp had purchased. During the Indian outbreak in 1862, Mr. and Mrs. Huelskamp fled to St. Peter, and upon returning to their farm later, found that the redmen had burned down their modest home. Fifty-two years ago, they located on a farm in West Newton township, where Mr. Huelskamp passed away in 1896. Mrs. Huelskamp continued to reside there until 19 years ago, when she retired from active farm life, and since then had been making her home with her children. Deceased was the mother of 12 children, of whom seven preceded her in death. The five surviving children are: Frank Huelskamp, Jr., West Newton township; Mrs. Anton Geray, Mahnomen; Mrs. Rud. Marti, New Ulm; Mrs. Chas. Bianchi, West Newton township and Alb. Huelskamp, New Ulm. In addition, Mrs. Huelskamp is survived by 39 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers, namely, Mrs. Geo. Martinka and Mrs. Philomena Brand, New Ulm; Anton Kachelmeier, Stark township, and Alois Kachelmeier, Nez Perce, Idaho. Funeral servers were conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic church here Monday morning at 8 o'clock, and at the Catholic church in St. George at 9:30, interment being made at the Catholic cemetery there. Deceased was a member of the Christian Mothers' society of this city and the Alter society of St. George, both of which attended the last rites in a body.
