Stricken with heart failure on the way home from a cornfield, Joseph Hunh, Sr., wellknown West Newton township farmer, passed away, Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock, before he reached his farm house. Although ailing for some 18 years, Mr. Huhn was able to be up and around. His condition grew worse a few months ago. Deceased was born in West Newton township, March 26, 1869, and he was past 60 years of age, at the time of his demise. He was married to Miss Anna Zitzmann at the St. George Catholic church, October 29, 1896 and shortly thereafter they moved onto a farm near Gibbon, remaining there for four years, and then returning to West Newton township, which had since been deceased’s abode. Besides his widow, Mr Huhn leaves the following three children to mourn his death: Mrs. Robert Byer, Frazee, Minn.; Mrs. Joseph Schweiss, Fairfax, and Joseph Huhn, Jr., at home. There also are five grandchildren, as well as his aged mother, Mrs. John Huhn, Sr., of New Ulm, and the following four brothers and three sisters: Adolph and Henry Huhn, near Gibbon; John Huhn, Jr. and Mrs. Anton Mattes, West Newton township; William Huhn, Mrs. Herman Bentzin, And Mrs. Fred Bauermeister, New Ulm. Funeral services will be conducted at the St. George Catholic Church, tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 9 o,clock, after which the re mains will be interred in the parish cemetery nearby. St. Benedict Court, C. O. F., of St. George, of which Mr. Huhn was a member, will attend the obsequies in a body. ========================================================================= Copyright Laura Morrow 2007.
