FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Pamela Kebis Submitted: October 2002 ========================================================================= Journal - September 5, 1930 ALBERT KNEES With the death of Albert Knees, well known resident of Milford township, for many years, this community loses one of its most kind-hearted and conscientious residents. Mr. Knees succumbed to complications, at his home on South Washington street, Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. He had been ailing, for the past few months, but was confined to his bed only a few days. Deceased was nearly 67 years of age, having been born in Milford township, October 8, 1863. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Knees, were pioneer settlers of that community. On November 8, 1892, he was married to Miss Emma Wiedenmann in this city, and to this union, one daughter was born, namely, Mrs. Harold A. Fenske of New Ulm. They made their home on a farm in Milford township until the death of Mrs. Knees, April 13, 1929, and in the fall, Mr. Knees removed to this city. He was a kind and devoted husband and father, very helpful and neighborly, and was never known to quarrel or dispute with anyone. Mr. Knees is survived by two grandchildren, and the following two brothers and four sisters: Philip and Henry Knees, Mrs. Lena Frederick and Mrs. Christ. Backer, all of New Ulm; Mrs. Daniel Mecklenburg, Milford township, and Mrs. Herman J. Albrecht, Essig. Obsequies were held at Turner hall Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and the remains were laid to rest in the City cemetery. Mr. Knees was a member of the New Ulm Turnverein, Modern Woodmen of America, and the Junior Pioneers.
