FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Pamela Kebis Submitted: Apr 2003 ========================================================================= Journal, December 8, 1937 HENRY KNEES, 76, DIES YESTERDAY; RITES TOMORROW Henry, Knees, life-long resident of Brown county, passed away, shortly after midnight, early yesterday morning, at his home, 515 First North Street. Mr. Knees had been ailing for sometime, and confined to bed three weeks. Uremia and complications caused his demise. Deceased was 76 years of age, having been born, November 23, 1871, in Milford township, Brown county. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Knees, were pioneer settlers of that community. When a young man, he purchased a farm there. Later, Mr. Knees married Miss Augusta Winkelmann. A few years thereafter, Mrs. Knees became seriously ill, and their removed to New Ulm where she died. They had one son, Armin Knees, now residing in Guthrie, Minn. On April 5, 1894, Mr. Knees married Miss Rosa Garies of Milford, who survives him. They went back onto the farm, to reside. Since retiring, in 1923, Mr. and Mrs. Knees have made their home in New Ulm. Two children were born to their union, namely, Valentine Knees, who died in 1927, and Mrs. Frank Gleisner, of this city. There also are six grandchildren, as well as one brother and three sisters. They are: Philip Knees and Mrs. Christ ???, New Ulm; Mrs. Herman J. Albrecht, Essig; and Mrs. Daniel Mecklenburg, Milford township.
