Minnesota street, and a resident of New Ulm, almost continuously, for the past 64 years, succumbed to a paralytic stroke, early Friday morning at 4:40 o'clock, in the Union Hospital here. Mr. Krause was busy, filing a saw in the kitchen of his home, when stricken. Mrs. Krause came downstairs to ask him a question. When he failed to reply, she became alarmed and went up to him. From his drawn face she saw that he had suffered a light paralytic stroke. He was take to the hospital immediately. Mr. Krause complained about not feeling well, since the previous Sunday. Born near Stettin, Pommerania, Germany, January 2, 1850, deceased was past 77 years of age. When a lad of 13, he emigrated to the United States with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Krause. His mother passed away, shortly after arriving in this country. Grief stricken, the other members of the family set out for New Ulm, and, later, located on a farm in Milford Township. On December 16, 1885, Mr. Krause married Miss Elizabeth Dhein, his surviving window, in this city. The observed their golden wedding anniversary last year. With the exception of three years spent in Essig, and four at Cobden, they have since resided here. While a resident of the latter place, Mr. Krause was a member of the village council. He served as assessor of New Ulm, from 1926 to 1930. For many years he was a member of the New Ulm Turnverein, and of the Order of Hermann Sons, until the latter organization was dissolved a number of years ago. Besides his wife, deceased leaves three daughters, namely Mrs John Paulson, St. Paul; Mmes. Nick A. Gulden and R.R. Kemski, New Ulm; Mrs John Gareis, Milford township; and Mrs. John Williams, Minneapolis. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in Turner Hall here, after which interment was made in the City cemetery.
