Old age was believed to have been the chief cause of death. She was 80 years of age last June. The deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany, June, 1856. She came to America with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John Backer, in 1872, and lived for two years in New Ulm before going to St. Paul. She was married in New Ulm 56 years ago to William Magnus, but the young couple made St. Paul their home. They lived for a number of years in Pierre, S. D., where Mr. Magnus was in the well drilling business, before moving to Webster. Mr. Magnus died three years ago. Four sons, Ed, William, Oscar and Walter, all of Webster survive. Brothers and sisters of the deceased who survive are Fred Gareis, who lives in California; John Gareis, Milford township; Mrs. Maggie Eisenbach; Mrs. Henry Knees, New Ulm; Mrs. Christ Sprenger, New Ulm; Mrs. Margaret Eiserbeck, Santa Monica, Cal.; Mrs. Beuschel (sic, sb Peuschel), Lakeville, Minn.; and Mrs. Paul Wiedenmann, Sleepy Eye.
