HENRY MOLL, SR. Death came to Mrs. Henry Moll, Sr., very unexpectedly at the family Home at 122 North Payne Street Monday noon about 12:30 o’clock. Mrs. Moll had suffered with diabetes for a number of years but a year ago last August she entered the Union hospital for medical attention, remain- ing there two weeks. She returned to her home and since then her health has failed. On the day of her demise she was as well as usual and enjoyed the noonday meal, going into a coma shortly before her death. Carolina Essig was born November 15, 1848 in Redwood county, New York, and was thus nearing her 84th birthday. In 1850 she moved with her parents to Wills County, Illinois, and resided there until in 1866 when with her late parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Essig, she moved to Brown county, Minnesota. She was married here August 19, 1868 to Henry Moll Sr., Rev. Henry Singenstruth performing the ceremony. After their marriage they moved to Mr. Moll’s farm in Milford township and established their home. They continued their residence there until 1911, when they retired from active farm duties and came to New Ulm to spend their declining years in the home Mr. Moll built. Mr. and Mrs. Moll celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1916 and also celebrated their diamond Wedding anniversary ten years later. Mrs. Moll was the mother of fourteen children, two sons and two daugh- ters having preceded her in death. Her husband passed away September 11, 1928. Ten children survive to mourn the death of their mother, namely: Albert, Henry, Jr., Arthur, Adolph and A. L. Moll, all of New Ulm; Mrs. C. E. (Annie) Morehouse, Big Falls, Minn.; Mrs. George (Caroline) Maha, of Springfield; Otto Moll, Raub, N. D.; J. C. Moll, Progress, British Columbia, Canada; Charles Moll, Sleepy Eye. One sister, Mrs. Louise Weneger of Little Rock, Arkansas, and three brothers, John and Charles Essig of Milford township, and Henry Essig of Baldwin Park, California, as well as 40 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, also survive. Funeral services will be conducted from the home on North Payne St. Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and at 2 o’clock from the Evangelical Bethel Church, Rev. C. A. Tesch officiating. Interment will be made in the City cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Hecker Circle, the Union Hospital Aid Association and the Methodist and Bethel Ladies Aids. ========================================================================= Copyright Laura Morrow 2007.
