FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Laura Morrow Submitted: September 2007 ========================================================================= Obituary of Daniel Moll, Sr. Newspaper Unknown, Sleepy Eye, Brown County, Minnesota January 1923 FUNERAL OF PIONEER Remains of Daniel Moll, Sr. Laid to Rest in Home Cemetery The funeral services over the remains of Daniel Moll, Sr., wellknown pioneer and Civil war veteran, were held Thursday afternoon of last week from the Moll home and the Evangelical church at Sleepy Eye, after which interment was made in the Home town cemetery. The deceased passed away at the family home in Sleepy Eye the previous Tuesday. Daniel Moll was born in Wittenberg, Germany, Aug. 27, 1841, and came with his parents to this country in 1847. The family settled in Washington county, Wis., where he grew to manhood, and entered the services of the Union during the Civil war. Following being mustered out he was employed in Chicago for several years and came to Brown county in 1867. He resided in New Ulm for a time and later took up a homestead three miles north of Sleepy Eye. He was united in marriage to Miss Wilhelmina Zieske of Courtland township, Dec. 7, 1870, and besides his wife he is survived by ten Children as follows; George, Edward, Frank and Reuben, Sleepy Eye; Hugo, Mayville, Wis.; Mrs. Aug. Sass, Mrs. Glen Davey and Miss Anna, Sleepy Eye; Mrs. C. N. Robertson, New Ulm and Mrs. F. E. Schmitz, Mankato. Mr. and Mrs. Moll retired from the farm in 1901 and removed to Sleepy Eye, where they have since made their home. ========================================================================= Copyright Laura Morrow 2007.
