FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Pamela Kebis Submitted: March 2004 ========================================================================= Review - April 28, 1955 ARMAND PETRY Armand Petry, 81, a member of the firm Petry Brothers, publishers of the New Ulm Post from 1896 to 1905, a German language newspaper, died in St. Paul last Thursday. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Johnson- Peterson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Elmhurst cemetery. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Petry and was born in New Ulm, June 5, 1873. He followed the printing trade and worked on newspapers at Stillwater and in other towns. April 17, 1896, he and his brother Edward Petry purchased the New Ulm Post from J.A. Strasser. They continued to publish the Post until March 10, 1905, when they sold it to a company of local residents, under the name of the New Ulm Publishing Company. After the Post was sold Mr. Petry went to St. Paul, where he worked on several newspapers for a number of years. His last position was that of proof reader on the St. Paul News. He retired about 20 years ago. His home is at 755 Manomin Avenue. Mr. Petry and Miss Anna Kobarsch were married early in the century. She survives. There are also two sons, Theodore, Wenonah, N.J., and Eduard, Minnetonka Mills. There are four grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Ida Sommers, Redland, Calif., also survives.
