FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Pamela Kebis Submitted: October 2002 ========================================================================= New Ulm Journal - May 24, 1950 PIONEER RESIDENT OF COTTONWOOD TOWNSHIP DIES Joseph Schnobrich, 82, who had resided at 500 North Franklin street for the past 30 years died at a New Ulm hospital at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. He had been a patient there since May 7. Funeral arrangements will be announced in Thursdays Daily Journal. JOSEPH Schnobrich, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schnobrich, Sr., early pioneers of Cottonwood township was born Feb. 19, 1868. He grew to manhood on the farm and was married to Miss Frances Sturm of Springfield at St. Raphael's Catholic church, Feb. 10, 1890. Mr. and Mrs. Schnobrich took up their residence in New Ulm after marriage and Mr. Schnobrich was employed in the meat market, operated by his father for about a year and a half. They then moved to a farm in Cottonwood township, where they resided for 27 years. He was a member of the school board there for many years. Mr. Schnobrich then retired from the farm and they moved to New Ulm and 500 North Franklin St. had since been the home. Mrs. Schnobrich died October 2, 1948. Mr. Schnobrich is survived by four children: Edward G., New Ulm; Mrs. Otto (Jeanette) Schaeffler and Mrs. Henry (Alma) Stadick, both of Minneapolis and Mrs. Edward (Adelia) Schaeffler, Lafayette township. Two sons, Otto and Emil, preceded their parents in death. There are eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. George Griebel of Searles, also survives.
