He passed away about 4:30 Friday morning, the day set for the funeral of his aged father, Gustave Schultz, who died last week Tuesday. Arrangements were made at once to hold a double funeral on Monday. "Ben" as he was best known was born in Sleepy Eye on Nov. 25, 1882. On May 21, 1914, he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Berkner of Milbank, S.D. Besides his widow he leaves two children, Verla and Darwin as well as the following brothers and sisters; John J. Schultz, Mrs. Chas Remus, Mrs. Emma Hummel, Mrs Roy Gent, and L.D. Schultz of Sleepy Eye and Mrs. Emil J. Pahl of Michigan City, Ind. At the age of 21 he joined the Evangelical church and was a good faithful member ever since. The double funeral of father and son was held on Monday afternoon. At one o'clock a short service was conducted at the farm home of the son. The funeral procession they followed to the home of Mrs. Emma Hummel, where a short wervice was held for the father. Then both hearses proceeded to the Evangelical church, where Rev. R.R. Werner assisted by Rev. R.M. Mueller of New Ulm and Rev. F.W. Hanser of Marshall, conducted the services. The church was filled to overflowing, in fact over 100 people stood in the two entries of the church unable to enter. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Walter Hose, Emmet Schewe, Dave Remus, Clarence Schultz, Orval Remus and Vernard Gent, all grandchildren acted as Pall-bearers for their grand-father. The pall-bearers for his son were; Frank Moll, Reuben Moll, Herman Speckman, A.W. Tews,, John Hanser and Chris Peterson. At the cemetery Rev. Werner officiated at the grave of Benjamin Schultz while Rev. Mueller at the grave of Gustav Schultz. The survivors have the sympathy of the whole community. Among those from out-of-town to attend the funeral were Fred Mielke, Wm. and Herman Stark of Springfield; Chas. and Adolph Schlief of Comfrey; Mr. and Mrs. Rotzin of Hutchinson; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Rotzin of Bagley; Mrs. Emma Naas of Bagley; Albert and Henry Prosch and Wm. Blank of Nicollet; Mr. and Mrs. A. Goode of Lamberton; Mrs. Chas Schlief of Comfrey; Theo Mielke of Lucan; Russell Pahl of Michigan City, Ind.; Henry Dittbenner of Lucan; Mr. and Mrs. Geo Werner of Lamberton; Miss Cora Bruess of New Ulm;Mr. and Mrs. Wm C. Berkner, Walter Berkner, Melvin Berkner, Wm. Strege, Mrs. Edward Loschke, and Charles Lueck of Milbank, S.D; and Miss Florence Feckner and Herman Feckner of Courtland; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moll and son, Arthur of New Ulm; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kissner of Lamberton.
