Paper, bet April 13-15, 1945 MRS. SPRENGER DIES; FUENRAL TO BE MONDAY Mrs. Bertha Sprenger, 84, died Thursday at 11 p.m. at the Sprenger home, 519 North Broadway. She had been bedfast for the previous three weeks. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m., Monday, with solemn requiem mass in Holy Trinity Catholic church. The body will be at the Leo Sprenger home, 503 North Minnesota street, Sunday afternoon. Prayers will be at the home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Bertha Gareis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gareis, was born in Ober Franken, Bavaria, Germany, and came to America in 1872 with her family. The settled on a farm in Milford township, and her brother John Gareis now occupies the old home place. She was one of nine children. She and Christ Sprenger were married in Holy Trinity Catholic church Nov. 8, 1882, by the late Rev. Alexander Berghold. They made their home in this city and Mr. Sprenger for many years was an employee in Crone brothers general store. He was later city treasurer, and died April 12, 1934. Mr. and Mrs. Sprenger celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1932. There were seven children. One daughter Margaret, died in infancy, and another daughter, Florence, died at the age of 4, and a son, Emil, was 50, when he died in Cleveland, Ohio. Three sons and one daughter, survive. They are Leo Sprenger, acting city treasurer, Edward and Alfons Sprenger, Chicago, Ill., and Miss Crescentia Sprenger, at home. She is survived by two brothers, and one sister; John Gareis, Milford; Fred Gareis, Commerical Place, Calif., and Mrs. Paul Wiedenmann, Sleepy Eye. She was a charter member of the St. Elizabeth and Christian Mothers societies.
