FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Pamela Kebis Submitted: March 2004 ========================================================================= New Ulm Review - October 6, 1915 FREDERICK STRATE Frederick Strate, the oldest resident of West Newton, passed away at this home early Monday morning. Death was due to a paralytic stroke which he suffered about 4 weeks ago. The deceased had however been ailing and in poor health for some years. Mr. Strate was born August 6th, 1830 in Lippe Detmold, Germany and was therefore in his 86th year when he died. He came to America in 1863, coming directly to West Newton where he engaged in the pursuit of farming which he followed until a few years ago whe he retired from active farm life. He was married July 24th, 1866 to Friedericke Lammers who with the following eight sons and daughters survives him; August and Mrs. Louis Arhart of West Newton; Mrs. Rudolph Alwin and Wilbur Strate of New Ulm; Edward Strate who resides in Canada; Mrs. Herman Juni and Wm. Strate of Milford and Louis Strate of Home. The funeral will be held this (Wedensday) afternoon with services at the late home at 1:30 and thereafter at the M.E. Church, West Newton, Rev. Rinkel of Fairfax officiating. Interment will be made in the West Newton cemetery.
