FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Pamela Kebis Submitted: October 2002 ========================================================================= Unknown Brown County Newspaper - May 10, 1935 PAUL WIEDENMANN, SLEEPY EYE, DIES Prominent Business Man Was Native of Milford Township - Funeral Wednesday Sleepy Eye lost one of its prominent residents and former business men, early Sunday morning at 5:15 o'clock, when Paul Wiedenmann of that city succumbed to a chronic ailment, at the Union hospital here. Mr. Wiedenmann had been ailing for several years, and submitted to an operation at the hospital, Monday of last week. Born in Milford township, Brown county, January 25, 1872, as a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wiedenmann, pioneer settlers of that community, deceased was past 63 years of age. He married Miss Friederike Gareis, his surviving widow, in this city, June 8, 1899. They moved to Echo, where Mr. Wiedenmann conducted a business, in partnership with John Backer of this city, for some five years, when Mr. Wiedenmann bought his partner's interest. About 22 years ago, the Wiedenmann family located at Sleepy Eye, where deceased had since resided. Besides his widow, Mr. Wiedenmann leaves three children, namely, Herbert Wiedenmann, Huntington Park, Calif.; Mrs. Carl Schwieger, Sleepy Eye, and Miss Lunita Wiedenmann, at home. The following two brothers and three sisters also survive: Miss Lena and Otto Wiedenmann, New Ulm; George Wiedenmann, Mankato; Mrs. Fred Gareis, South Gate, Calif., and Mrs. Herman Pfaender, Milford township. The remains were taken to Sleepy Eye, where funeral services were conducted, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the late home, Rev. William C. Albrecht of St. John's Ev. Lutheran church, officiating. Interment was made in the Home cemetery.
