JOHN WILFAHRT SR. Death came very suddenly to Mrs. John Wilfahrt, Sr., at 12:15 p.m. Monday at her home, 415 No. Washington street. Mrs. Wilfahrt died as a result of a heart stroke, leaving a large family to mourn her passing. The deceased, who before her marriage was Barbara Portner, was born in Austria June 16, 1867, being well over 69 years of age at the time of her death. She came to this country in 1874 with her parents, who settled in Sigel township. February 23, 1892 Miss Portner was married to John Wilfahrt, her surviving husband, at Holy Trinity Church in New Ulm and to this union were born 11 children, all living at the present time. The Wilfahrts have made New Ulm their home since November 3, 1927. Surviving children are: John Wilfahrt, Jr., Eddie Wilfahrt, Charles Wilfahrt, Ernst Wilfahrt, Mrs. Alfed Wiltscheck (Anna) and Mrs. Eddie Ginkel (Marie), all of New Ulm; Mrs. Henry Helget (Frances) of South Haven, Minn., Robert and Herbert of Sigel township. Mrs. George P. Schmid (Alma) of Milford township, and Lucy, living at home. There are 28 grandchildren living. Brothers and sisters of the deceased who survive are Mrs. George Kretsch, Mrs. Peter Seifert, Mrs. John T. Dietz, Mrs. John A. Sellner and Andrew Portner of New Ulm and Joe J. Portner of Pierz, Minn. The funeral service for Mrs. Wilfahrt is being held at Holy Trinity Catholic church this (Thursday) morning at 9 o'clock. Rev. A. Schladweiler, Rev. Edward Yunker and Rev. Charles Schreiber officiating. Interment will be made at the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Wilfahrt was a member of the Catholic Mothers society of Holy Trinity church. Eight grandsons of the deceased who are alter boys will serve as honorary pallbearers. Six sons will be active pallbearers.
