(Special:)--August Sand, for 30 years a well-known  resident of Mahtowa, 
dropped dead while attending church in his home town last Wednesday. He 
had been in ill health for the past six years and had resided with his 
daughter, Mrs. Benj. Borgen, for the past year.
  The surviving children reside at Mahtowa and are Mrs. B. Borgen, Mrs. 
Carl Peterson and Hugo Sand.
  The funeral was held from the Swedish Lutheran church last Friday 
afternoon at 2 o'clock, the pastor Rev. E. M. Eckman, officiating.
Interment was made in the Mahtown cemetery.
  Mr. Sand was the owner of one of the finest farms in the Mahtowa 
district.
