Henry Fabel, Jr. Passes Away _____________________________ Was One of Norwood's Foremost Business Men, and Was in the Prime of Life When Death Summoned Him Beyond. Henry Fabel, Jr., one of the best known and most highly esteemed businessmen of Norwood and Carver County, who had been in poor health for several years, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul, Tuesday evening July 30th. Death was the result of a complication of diseases followed by an attack of paralysis. The late Henry Fabel, Jr. was a son of our pioneer resident, Henry Fabel, and he was born on a farm in Benton Township, this county, on February 22, 1865, and had attained the age of 47 years. When a young man he learned the trade of harnessmaker at Norwood, but later gave up the work to work for L.A. Booth in the Norwood Drug Store, and since that time has followed the vocation of druggist. In 1897 he erected the imposing building at the corner of Elm and Union streets, one of the finest business blocks in the county, and it was used by him as a place of business ever since, with the exception of six years, from 1903 to 1909 when H.F. Lueders owned and operated the business. During his business career at Norwood he had always taken a deep interest in the business and social welfare of the people and did much toward making it a live progressive community. He was a great admirer of horses and in years past has owned some of the fastest horses that ever traveled the turfs of this state. In 1887 he was maried to Miss Anna Hoeffken, who died about four years ago. A daughter, Miss Margaret, seven brothers and one sister, survive the early demise of a good father and brother. His aged father also survives. To them all the Herald extends sincere sympathy. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon, and the remains interred in the West Side Cemetery, beside those of his wife. Many old friends of the family from various points followed the remains to their last resting place. Researchers note: The West Side Cemetery is listed in modern documents as the Norwood Public Cemetery / Forest Hills Cemetery Association - Norwood, Minnesota
