Casper Giesen, a resident of this county for more than a half century, passed away at his home her last week Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 21st, at the age of 73 years and 8 days. About a year ago Mr. Giesen suffered a fracture of one his limbs while building a chimney, and the injury did not heal as well as was expected. For the past seven or eight weeks he was ill at his home. Casper Giesen was born in Holland on Nov. 13, 1855, a son of Jacob Giesen and Tillie Donish. When four years of age, or 69 years ago, he left his native land and came to the United States, spending nearly all these years in this community. Forty-five years ago he was married to Minnie Dohman. Nine children blessed this union. Mr. Giesen, for many years followed the trade of a mason and cement worker. He was a member of the St. Antonius Unterstuetzungsverein and a honorary member of the Waconia Fire Department. The funeral was held last week Saturday morning with services at the Church of St. Joseph. The services being well attended by friends and relatives of the pioneer resident of the community. The pall bearers were Chas. Maiser, Joseph Hartman, Albert Graff, Bernard Rauen, John Yetzer and Thomas Burfield. Surviving are the widow and nine children who are Mrs. Albert Mausolf, Prescott, Wis.; Joseph, Northome; Mrs. Norby, Henry, John, Minneapolis; Hubert, Jake, Mathew Raymond, Waconia; also one brother, Joseph Giesen, residing at Minnetonka Mills and one sister in Chicago.
