T. malmberg of Lindstrom, passed away at the Old People's Home in Chisago City at the age of 83 years, after an illness of two week's duration. Death came peacefully to the aged lady on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the presence of four of her children who had gathered at her bedside. She first became ill about two weeks ago, afflicted with no defined disease, and gradually weakened until the end came. Mrs. Shoquist was well known and respected throughout the Chisago City community as a faithful christian and loyal worker of the Swedish Lutheran chruch, of which she was a member since 1882. Mrs. Johanna Christina Shoquist was born at Nottaback, Kronobergs län, Sweden, on December 24, 1842, and thus at hear death was 83 years and 4 days. She was united in marriage in Sweden on New Year's Eve 1861, to Swen Shoquist, who passed away in 1914. The marriage was blessed with ten children: five of whom survive, two children having died in infancy and three after reaching maturity. She came to America with her family in 1882 and settled in Chisago City, where she made her home to the time of her death. Her funeral service will be conducted at the Old People's Home at Chisago City at 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning, and from the Swedish Lutheran church of Chisago City at 11:30, Rev. C. E. Slatt officiating. The interment will be made at the West Green lake cemetery. Left to mour her departure are three daughters, Mrs. A. T. Malmberg of Lindstrom, Mrs. Wm. P. Carlson of Minneapolis, and Mrs. E. E. Linnell of St. Paul; two sons, Andrew and Olaf Shoquist, both of Minneapolis, fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, besides a large circle of relatives and friends. The Press joins with a large number of friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved.
