He came to America on a sailboat with his father and two brothers John and Gust. His mother died on the boat just before it got to America. His father had been married before so he also had a half brother named August. They first lived in Wisconsin. Albert married Emma Moll, who was born in Chicago. Her folks moved to Iowa where she met Albert. They heard that land was more available and had richer soil in Minn. So they moved to the Baker area. While they were in Iowa Carl, Albert, Fred, George and Theodore were born. Edward, William, Ella, Evelyn, Clarence and Leonard were born at Baker. Albert and Emma first rented the farm where Frank Thompson Jr. now lives. Then they bought the farm near Baker, in section 36 of Elmwood Township. They built up the buildings in 1916. Emma died in May, 1935. Albert died at the age of 88 in June 21, of 1948. They belonged to the Trinity Church at Sabin. Carl - farmed in Alliance Township - deceased; Albert - Elmwood Township - deceased; Fred, farmed at Hampton, Iowa, retired; George - deceased in Oct. 1931; Theodore - farms at Sabin in Elmwood Township, retired; Edward - farmed in Barnesville Township - deceased; Willie - farmed the home farm, retired to Barnesville; Ella - Mrs. Hartwell Carr - deceased; Evelyn - Mrs. Irving Sether, Rothsay; Clarence - farmed in Alliance Township, retired; Leonard - farms in Barnsville Township. ========================================================================= Copyright Don Hansen 2006.
