He attended the Parochial School at Baker. On March 31,1931 he married Violet Adele Jackson, the daughter of I. T. Jackson and Julia (Schefsted) Jackson of Barnesville. She was born April 1, 1911 in Wilkin County and attended schools in Barnesville. While attending high school, Vi worked for Art Jenson, and after graduating she worked as an office girl for Dr. Soine and Dr. Metcalf of Barnesville. After Ed and Vi were married they lived for two years on the Braman farm (where Bradley Cook now lives); then moved to the Goldberg farm (where Milo Schenck now lives). Then they bought the Baumgardner farm in Section 18 of Barnesville Township, where their son Ronny now lives. They raised small grains and potatoes and had livestock. They have five children. Fern married Alvin Hansen. They farm in Elkton Township. They have three children, Douglas - teaches at Caledonia, Minn.; Roger - farms with his dad, he is married to Ann Bowman; and Kathy, at home, attends Barnesville High School. Janet - married Howard Brown. They live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They have three children: Ardis, who is married to Mike Schlittler of Oklahoma City. Carol, attends college; and Dean at home, attends high school. Curtis - married Beverly Hansen. They farm in Barnesville Township and have four children: Susan, will attend Tech School this fall and Kelly, Keith and Lee at home. They attend school in barnesville. Edward - married to Clarene Messerschmidt. They farm in Barnesville Township and have three children, Barbara, Marc and Brent at home. All attend school in Barnesville. Ronald - married Hazel Langerud. They farm the home farm in Barnesville Township and have two boys, Michael and Daniel. Ed and Vi belong to Trinity Church in Sabin. Ed passed away Jan. 31, 1963. In 1968, Vi bought a home in Barnesville where she now resides.
