He attended country school District 114 West and District 119 and graduated from Barnesville High School. In 1946 he married Dorothy Taasaas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Taasaas who farmed near Comstock in Holy Cross Township. She attended both the elementary and high school at Comstock. After attending Moorhead State Teachers College for two years, she taught at District 72 (the Koester School) in Alliance Township for six years and the Primary Grades in Comstock for two years. They farm in Alliance Township, raising small grains and soybeans. The children include: Arlene, now Mrs. Mitchell Gurno of Red Lake, Minn. Mitch and Arlene have one daughter, Michelle. James, who is married to Jaclyn Lisberg, is now in the army. Ruth, attending M.S.C. and Paul, in Barnesville High School. The whole family has been active in the American Lutheran Church of Comstock and the A-O:K 4-H club of Baker.
