JAMES O'NEILL FAMILY



  I was born in Tampa, FL July 28, 1945 to James Emmett O'Neill and Ida 

May Oldemeyer O'Neill. My father was in the Air Force stationed at Drew 

Field. At three months of age we moved back to Pipestone County and lived 

on a farm near Woodstock. When I was three years old we moved to 

Pipestone, where my father resumed his law practice. We lived north on 

Highway 75. My parents still live there.

  I attended St. John's University in 1963 majoring in government and 

upon graduating with a B.A. Degree in 1967 entered the Army. I served two 

years and was in Viet Nam during 1968-1969.

  After the service, I entered William Mitchell College of Law in St. 

Paul, graduating in 1973. The same year I married Nancy Wachter from 

Homer City, PA and we moved to Pipestone where I joined my father's law 

practice.

  We have four children, Jimmy, Marne and a set of twins, Danny and Gina.

  I was elected Pipestone County Attorney in 1978 and reelected in 1982.
