T. and Julia (Schefstad) Jackson was born April 1, 1911 on her family farm in Atherton Township, Wilkin County, Minnesota. In 1917 she moved with her family into Barnesville where she attended school and grew to womanhood. She graduated from Barnesville High School in 1929. She worked as a waitress and in the Doctor's office in Barnesville. She was united in marriage to Edwin H. Butenhoff on March 31, 1931 in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fargo. The couple made their home and farmed near Baker until 1963 when Mr. Butenhoff died. She continued to live on the farm until 1968 when she moved into Barnesville. Violet became a resident of the Barnesville Good Samaritan Center in 1993 where she lived until the time of her death. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Barnesville and a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Sabin and the Ladies Guild. She was also an avid golfer and bowler. Violet is survived by two daughters; Fern (Alvin) Hansen of Baker, Minnesota and Janet (Howard) Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three sons; Curtis (Beverly) of Barnesville; Edward (Clarene) of Moorhead; and Ronald (Hazel) of Barnesville; 15 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.
