BUTENHOFF Mathilda E. Butenhoff, 97 of Barnesville died Sunday, October 27, 1996 in the Barnesville Good Samaritan Center. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, with Pastor Dan Wagner officiating. Vocal music will be by Richard Young Jr., Judy McNamee and Peggy Butenhoff. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Richard Young Jr., David Young, Roger Kara, James Butenhoff, Paul Butenhoff, Charles Butenhoff, John Butenhoff and Pedar Butenhoff. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 29 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sabin. Mathilda, daughter of Samuel and Emelia (Krause) Riedel was born September 27, 1899 at Parks Prairie, Minnesota were she attended school and grew to womanhood. In 1916 she moved to the Sabin area and worked for the Henry Rosenfeldt family. She married Carl Butenhoff on March 9, 1920 in Sabin. The couple made their home and farmed in the Baker, Minnesota area until their retirement in 1959, when they moved into Barnesville. Mr. Butenhoff died in 1960. She continued to live in Barnesville and in 1990 became a resident of the Barnesville Good Samaritan Center, where she lived until the time of her death. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Barnesville and the Barnesville American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by one daughter DeLoris (Richard) Young of Grand Forks, ND; three sons, Melvin (Doris) of Pelican Rapids, Floyd (Dorothy) of Barnesville and George of Fairfield, MT; 15 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Grace Kara and 16 brothers and sisters. MATHILDA E. BUTENHOFF OBIT, #1112 The Fargo Forum Tues., 10/29/1996 Mathilda E. Butenhoff Barnesville, Minn. Mathilda Butenhoff, 97, Barnesville, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 1996, in Barnesville Good Samaritan Center. Mathilda E. Riedel was born Sept. 27, 1899, in Parkers Prairie, Minn., where she grew up and attended school. In 1916 she moved to Sabin, Minn. She married Carl Butenhoff March 9, 1920, in Sabin. They farmed near Baker, Minn. In 1959 they retired and moved to Barnesville. He died in 1960. In 1990 she entered Barnesville Good Samaritan Center. She is survived by three sons, Melvin (Doris), Pelican Rapids, Minn., Floyd (Dorothy), Barnesville, George, Fairfield, Mont.; a daughter, DeLoris (Richard) Young, Grand Forks, N.D.; 15 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
