Martinson, 58, of Barnesville, Minnesota died Friday, September 20, 2002 in Meritcare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in Bakke Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota with Pastor John Lee Offiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry Butenhoff, Doug Samuelson, Leland Mott Jr. and Allen Honer. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2002 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before at the church. Interment will be in Bakke Lutheran Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. Sharon, daughter of Lester and Matilda (Butenhoff) Possehl was born December 14, 1943 in Fargo. She attended school and grew to womanhood in the Baker, Minnesota area, graduating from Barnesville High School in 1961. Sharon married Douglas Martinson on January 21, 1963 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin. The couple made their home in Detroit Lakes where she worked for the St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes. In 1969 they moved to Thief River Falls, Minnesota where she worked for the nursing home. In 1977 they moved to Lake Park, Minnesota where she worked for the Sunnyside Care Center. In 1978 they moved to the Chelmo Turkey Farm near Detroit Lakes. She again went to work for the St. Mary's Nursing Center. Throughout those years she helped her husband with the farming responsibilites. They moved back to Detroit Lakes in 1984. In 2000 they moved to Barnesville. Mr. Martinson died in 2001. That was the year she became a resident of the Barnesville Good Samaritan Center, where she brought smiles to the residents faces arranging flowers and being involved in the care center's activities. She lived there until the time of her death. She was as member of Bakke Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. She oved to cook and bake, enjoyed gatherings at her home, crocheting, making afghans and was talented in beadwork and other crafts. She enjoyed Perry Mason and other detective stories and was an avid reader. She loved animals, especially cats and small dogs. Sharon is survived by four sons and one daughter, Rod Martinson, Brenda (Ross) Amundson, Jeffery Martinson, and his Fiance Jodi Singleton, all of Barnesville, MN; Scott Martinson and Joseph Martinson, both of Dtroit Lakes, MN; her motherm, Matilda Possehl, Alexandria, MN five grandchildren, Amanda Amundson, Corey Amundson, Jeffrey Jordon Martinson, Michael Brasco and Kevin Brasco; four sisters, Marion (James) Szymanski, Minot, ND, Jean (Jack) Samuelson, Little Falls, MN, Diane Scarr, Fargo, ND and Darlene (Duane) Samuelson, Kensington, MN.
