POSSEHL The funeral service for Rudolph C. Possehl of Breckenridge was held Thursday, March 26, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Breckenridge, MN. Pastor Dennis O'Neill officiated. Visitation was held Wednesday, March 25, 1992 from 3:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sabin, MN. Rudolph died March 23, 1992 in the St. Francis Home in Breckenridge at the age of 88. Rudolph was born September 8, 1903 to Henry and Matilda (Butenhoff) Possehl at Latimer, Iowa. As a child, he moved with his family to Baker, MN and attended school in Barnesville, MN. He graduated from the Concordia Academy in Moorhead, MN. In 1926 he married Lella Cornish. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad until 1935 at which time he began employment with the Standard Oil Company in Comstock, MN. They made their home there where Rudy served as Mayor for 20 years. He was instrumental in bringing the telephone system to Comstock and was always interested in the betterment of the community. In 1968, he retired from Standard Oil. They continued to live in Comstock until 1985 when they moved to Breckenridge. Rudy was an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast and greatly enjoyed the Minnesota Twins. He was a charter member of the Comstock Rod and Gun Club. He was also a great "visitor" and loved to be with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Lella, Breckenridge; a son and daughter-in- law, Ralph and Jeanne Possehl, Breckenridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and DuWayne Nelson, Battle Lake, MN; four grandchildren, Susan (Mrs. Jeff) Jenson and Valerie (Mrs. Bernie) Manock, both of Breckenridge; Craig Nelson (and his wife, Susan) and Theresa Nelson, all of Moorhead; eight great grandchildren; his brother, Chester Possehl, Las Vegas, NV and his sisters, Adeline Johnk, Moorhead and Clara Jensen, Vancouver, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ed and Arthur and his sister, Florence.
