FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Linda Olsen Submitted: April 2005 ========================================================================= Farmers Indendepent Bagley Oct 15,1953 Rites Held for Erick Anderson Last rites for Erick Anderson were held Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3, from the Oak Park Chruch with Rev.C.D. Mattson officiating and Halterman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Erick Anderson,pioneer residentof Eddy township, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept 29, at the Good Samaritian Home at Clearbrook at the age of 93 years and 10 months. Mr Anderson was born in Dasland , Sweden in 1859, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Erick Vaucker, where he was baptized in the Lutheran faith. After graduating from a rural elementry school he devoted his time between his fathers farm and a large commerical farm. In June,1883 he was married to Christian Olson,a neighbor girl and a classmate in school. In 1884 he imigrated to America and settled in the Stillwater, Minnesota. Two years later he moved to Minneapolis , where he was employed by Pillsbury mills for a number of years. In 1890 he moved his family to Crookston, Minn, where he managed and operated a large grain farm for seven years. In 1897 he filed a claim on a homestead in Eddy township. He continued to operate and reside until 1940 when he retired to a small farm south of clearbrook. The past two years he was resided at the Good Samaritan Home in Clearbrook. He was a charter member of the Oak Park Luthern church and served as one of its officers for over 30 years. He was also a member of the local school board and township board during his early days of his residence in Eddy township. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christian, who passed away in 1946 and also a son Victor and two sons Oscar and Harry, who died in infancy. Left to mourn his loss are his two daughters, Mrs Florence Kjolhaug of St Paul and Mrs. Ted Hamre of Trail, Minn.;and five sons, Charley and William of Clearbrook, Walter of Virgina,Minn, Earl of St. Paul, and Herbert of Mt. Gileand , Ohio. Also 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. ========================================================================= Copyright.
