Tamminen, age 95, of Westbrook, formerly of Eveleth, MN passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Nursing Home. The Westbrook Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Katherine Inkeri Tamminen was born on February 21, 1910 in Sorsakoski, Finland to Mr. and Mrs. Wehvilainen. She immigrated to the United States around 1920 with her family and lived at Suomi, Minnesota near Grand Rapids. She attended school in Duluth, MN where she met and later married Rev. Alex Tamminen on June 26, 1931 in Duluth. Following their wedding, the couple lived in Ely and several locations in Michigan. In 1985 they retired and moved to Eveleth. Katherine enjoyed crafts, music and singing. She was very active in the Lutheran Church. Katherine is survived by her daughter Joan (Edward) Deslauries, of Currie, MN; sister-in-law Corrine Wehvilainen; brother-in-law Armas Wehvilainen and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rev.
