Personal research as of October 2012
Martin G. Eide was born July 1863 at Mitchell County (probably by Otranto), 
Iowa to Lars Larson Eide and Maria Martinsdatter Dyrnes, the second of their 
five children. His siblings were Lewis Lars, Peter G, unnamed baby boy and 
Bertha Bertina Anna. 

Found in the 1870 census living at Madison, Polk, IA:  Sarah Ida (Lars Eide) 
31,  Mary Ida 38, Sarah Ida 12, Martin Ida 7, Peter Ida 5, Betsey Ida 1. His 
brother, Ole Ida (Eide) 25 (Lars' brother), Ose Ida (Aase Eide, Ole's wife) 
24, Betsey Ida 3, Thomas Ida 11/12. 

Found in the 1880 census at Lincoln, Polk, IA: Lars Eide 41, Carrie Eide 41, 
Lewis L. Eide 21, Martin Eide 16, Peter G. Eide 14, Bertha A. Eide 12.  Martin 
is working on his father's farm.

Martin married Bertha (Betsy) Larson 1883 at Polk, Iowa (Betsy born 1857 
Fayette, Iowa, died 1943 Crow Wing, MN). 
Martin and Betsey had 8 children: 
1. Martin (born 1885 Polk, Iowa, died May 4, 1947 Crow Wing, MN); 
2. Lewis Conrad Eide (born November 7, 1886 Polk, Iowa, died October 2, 1976 
Crow Wing, MN, married to Ida Sears July 3, 1918, 4 children; 
3. Annie  C (born 1887 Polk, Iowa); 
4.Josephine B (born 1888 Polk, Iowa); 
5. Bernt Edward or O. (born 1892 Wright, Iowa); 
6.Tilda Louisa (born 1894 Wright, Iowa); 
7. Bert John (born June 5, 1898 Minnesota, married to Mary Holsapple, died 
1985); 
8. Joseph Andrew Eide (born May 20, 1910  Long Lake, Crow Wing, MN, married 
Catherine Martha Tuholski (born May 22, 1920 Little Falls, MN) on October 30, 
1937, died November 1978 Crow Wing, MN). 

Family found in the 1885 census living at Lincoln, Polk, IA: Martin Eide 21,  
Betsy Eide 28,  Martin M Eide 1,  Lewis Eide 0.

Found in the 1895 census at Clarion, Wright, Iowa. Martin G Eide, born in 
Mitchell County, Iowa, age 31, Betsey 37 born in Fayette, IA; Martin J 11, 
born Polk, IA; Annie C 8, born Polk, IA; Josie B 7 born Polk, IA; Bernt O 2 
born Wright, IA, Tilda Louise 0 born Wright, IA. 

Found in the 1900 census at Long Lake, Crow Wing, Minn.:Martin Eide 35, Betsy 
Eide 42, Annie Eide 12, Jose Eide 11, Ed Eide 8, Louise Eide 6, Bert Eide 1. 
Lewis M 10, born Polk, IA. 
Also found in the 1900 census at Pointon, Crow Wing, MN: Martin Eide 36, Lewis 
Eide 14.  (both boarders, Martin is an engineer, Lewis a shingle waver, 
probably stayed there during the week).

Found in the 1910, 1920 censuses at Nokay Lake, Crow Wing, Minnesota: 
1910: Martin Eide 46, Betsy Eide 54, Marlin M Eide 25, Lewis C Eide 24, Anney 
K Eide 22, Jose B Eide 20, Bermy O Eide 17, Lowesa T Eide 15, Best J Eide 11. 
Working as a farm laborer.
1920: Martin Eide 56, Bertha Eide 61, Martin Eide 35, Josephin Eide 27, Bert 
Eide 21, Josepha Eide 10 (should be Joseph). 

Martin G Eide died March 14 (or 15th?), 1928 at Crow Wing, Minnesota and is 
buried at the Bethel Cemetery, Crow Wing, Minnesota.
