Burial in Hastings Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Dec. 13th, in St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Hastings, for Mrs. Fred (Emilie) Lomker, age 92, of Garden Grove, Calif., by Rev. Glenway Backus. Mrs. Lomker passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 1976, in the Extended Care Hospital, Long Beach, Calif. Interment was in the family plot in Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. Serving as pallbearers were: Ralph Cook, Tony and Conrad Fuchs, Walter Swanson, Henry Trapp and Reuben Wittnebel. Emilie Pottratz Lomker was born in Pipestone County, August 27, 1884, the daughter of Herman and Ann Mohr Pottratz. Her marriage to Fred Lomker took place in Mora, June 14, 1902, and they were the parents of ten children. Her husband Fred and two children, Clara and Leonard, preceded her in death. Mrs. Lomker and her family came to Hastings in 1920 and about 25 years ago she moved to California. She was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church since 1920. Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. Francis (Esther) Kleis, Long Beach, Mrs. Lester (Rosalie) Gittens, Midway City, Mrs. Lynn (Lillian) Canning, Garden Grove, all in Calif., and Mrs. Merlin (Viola) Deppert of Pekin, Ill.; four sons, Fred and Walter of Hastings, George of Long Beach and Robert of Fullerton, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren, and five great-great- grandchildren; also two brothers, Arnold and Richard Pottratz of Mora.
