Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Thomas Frank Memorium to Richard Mcclintock Nov. 1913; Richard Mcclintock was born November 1, l833 in Charleston,SC. At the age of 6 , he with his parents , a brother & a sister moved to Philadelphia,Pa, where he attened school until the age of 16 when became a capenter appentice and at the age of 21 became a master at his trade. In 1854 he started west, remaining in Chicago for 3 years, then cam to Minnesota, first to St. Paul, then to Lakeville. He was married on January 15, 1861 to Miss Elizabeth Phillips. The ceremony was preformed at the residence of Griffin Phelps, at Four Corners. They settled on the farm outside Lakeville. There were 8 children born to this union. In 1874 he along with John Moran & John Weichselbaum, started a general store under the name of Moran,Mcclintock & Co. Shortly after this he was appointed Postmaster and remained in this position for 15 years. In 1878 he bought out his partners and opened a drug store which he operated until his death He was always very active in the developement in the area and iin 1856 he built the old hotel in Four Corners and drew the plat map for the townsite of old Lakeville. He also took a lead in developing the present Lakeville. During his life he was appointed Justice of the Peace also in 1905 he was chosen president of the village council and was twice re-elected without opposition. Mr. Mcclintock passed 16 Sept. 1913 after a long illness. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church and in respect for the deceased all the businesses of the village were closed including the postoffice The deceased was laid to rest in the Family plot in Lake Grove Cemetary at Lakeville.
