Patsy Skeels Oregon ******************************** No. 368 Severns Family Bible Inside front cover: 2 news clippings and yellow postcard, addressed to Miss Elizabeth Sevelart, post-marked Sauk Center, Mn. Jul. 31. The poem "Never Again." (1) DEEDS - Hiram Deeds was born in Beaver Co. Pa., July 11, 1813, and died in Wasioja, Minn., Nov 23, 1889. He was married to Marilla Oakley April 10, 1836; moved to Minnesota in 1876. His wife died Nov 25, 1867. Twenty-two years later, at the same hour, on the same day, and the same day of the month, the funeral sermon of Bro. Deeds was preached. He was a good neighbor and a kind husband. He was often heard in secret prayer communing with his God. He rests in hope. R.P. FOLSOM (2) Additional Mantorville Local - The Express is informed of the death of Mrs. Walter Brown, formerly of Bach Grove, and a daughter of the aged Mrs. Severns of Concord village. In response to a letter of inquiry the latter has sent us the following data: Emma Severns was born in Beaver County, Penn., Feb. 12, 1841, and emigrated with her parents from Indiana to Minnesota in the spring of 1855, this being among the early pioneers of Concord township. In 1859 she was married to Walter Brown and in 1866 they moved west. Her last move was to Kansas in 1892, where she died of dropsy March 21, 1897, aged 56 years, leaving a son and a daughter and two grandchildren.
