She can be found in the 1880 and 1885 censuses at Pittsford, Butler, IA northwest of Dumont, IA living with her parents on a farm. In 1880: Henry Baedker 38, Edith Baedker 30, Henry Baedker 11, Edith Baedker 8, Minnie Baedker 6, Augusta Baedker 4, Wilhelm Baedker 2, Frank Baedker 1m. In 1885: Henry Badker 43, Ida Beadker 35 Henry Beadker 15, Ida Beadker 12, August Beadker 8, William Beadker 4, Frank Beadker 4, Enna Beadker 2. Augusta married John Frederick Russ on January 23, 1895 at Buffalo Center, Winnebago, IA. The couple had 5 children: Luella May (born December 6, 1897 Buffalo Center, IA, married Roy William Ganfield May 25, 1920, died October 7, 1996 Hastings, Dakota, MN); Frank Cecil (born June 2, 1899 Buffalo Center, IA, married Lillian Christine Morris August 8, 1930 Center City, MN, died July 13, 1971 Red Wing, Goodhue, MN); Annabel (born July 16, 1902 Buffalo Centery, IA, married Carl Anton Pearson June 11, 1930 Blue Earth, MN, died January 24, 1992 Onalaska, LaCrosse, WI); Ione Lela (born May 29, 1904 Buffalo Center, married Joseph Cyril McMannus June 14, 1934 Hastins, MN, died March 12, 2003 Minneapolis, MN); and John Frederick (born May 11, 1908 Buffalo Center, IA, married Margaret WinEllen McEachem August 15, 1936 Pine City, MN, died March 4, 1983 Wells, Faribault, MN). Family found in the 1900 and 1910 censuses at Buffalo, Winnebago, Iowa: 1900: J F Russ 34, Augusta Russ 25, May Russ 2, Cecil Russ 11/12. 1910: John F Russ 43, Augusta Russ 33, Luella May Russ 12, Frank Cecil Russ 9, Annabel Russ 7, Jone Russ 5, John F Russ 1 11/12[1], Florence Jannsen 21 (servant), Mary Welsh 4 (niece). Found in the 1920 census living at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, IA.: John F Russ 52, Augusta Russ 43, Luella May Russ 22, Frank Cecil Russ 20, Anna Bell Russ 17, Ione Russ 15, John Fredric Russ 11. Finally found in the 1930 census at Blue Earth, Faribault, MN: John F Russ 64, Augusta Russ 54, Frederick Russ 22, Ida Badker 81. Augusta Russ was 10 years her husband's junior and almost ended up having more years of widowhood than marriage. She was loved and treasured by all the relatives. She was a very active member of the E.R.B. church in Blue Earth and was a good friend to many older ladies that she would haul to church each Sunday in her 1937 Chevy. If ever there was a model of a good Christian, Augusta would have fit the bill. Augusta Marie Badker Russ died March 24, 1961 Blue Earth, Faribault, MN. and was buried at Graceland Cemetery, Buffalo Center, IA. Obituary from the Fairmont Sentinel, March 25, 1961: Mrs. Augusta Russ, 85 years, long time resident of Blue Earth, Minnesota, died at the Blue Earth Community Hospital on Friday at 2:40 P.M. after a long illness. She had been a patient at the hospital since January 12th. Mrs. Russ was born January 28, 1876, in Meservey, Iowa. She attended school there. On January 23, 1895, she was married to Dr. John F. Russ. They made their home in Buffalo Center, Iowa. They came to Blue Earth in 1920. Dr. Russ died August 13, 1930. Five children survive: Frank C. Russ, Bay City, Wisconsin; Dr. John F. Russ, Jr., Wells, Minnesota; Mrs. G. W. Ganfield, Hastings, MN; Mrs. Carl A. Pearson and Mrs. J. C. Mc Mannus both of Minneapolis, MN. Two sisters, Mrs. Adolph Edgren, Lake Bluff, Illinois and Mrs. Scott Pollock, Garner, Iowa also survive. There are 11 grandchildren. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Priscilla club and the women's group of her church. Funeral services will be at 2 P.M., Monday, from Salem Evangelical United Brethren church in Blue Earth with Dr. V.E. Hilton officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Buffalo Center, Iowa beside her husband.
