FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Deana Steel Submitted: February 2006 ========================================================================= Elmore Eye Dec. 17, 1936 FREEMAN DOBSON DIED SATURDAY PASSED AWAY AT HOME IN ELNORE FOLLOWING ILLNESS WITH PNEUMONIA Freeman Dobson passed away at his home in Elmore Saturday morning, December 12th, following a short illness with pneumonia. Mr. Dobson took sick with a bad cold about two weeks ago which later developed into double pneumonia. Freeman Dobson was born in Elmore on June 30, 1893 and died on Saturday, December 12, 1936. His early boyhood was spent in Elmore and when he was 13 years of age he went to live with his uncle Hallet Dobson, who lived on a farm near Blue Earth. He joined the U.S. Army on August 26, 1918 and served in the World War until January 6, 1919. On December 27, 1919 he was united in marriage to Vivian Halstead at Emmetsburg, Ia. They resided at Emmetsburg, Ia. for a while and then to Elmore and later to Austin, Minn. For the past few years the family have made their home in Elmore. Besides the sorrowing wife, the deceased is survived by three children, one son Russel, two daughters Beverly and baby Glenn Dora, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Dobson of Elmore, one sister Mrs. L. Penn and one brother Hallet and a host of other relatives and friends. Short funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 15th, and a 2 o'clock at the M.E. Church, Rev. G. W. Powell, preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the Elmore Cemetery. At the services at the cemetery members of local American Legion Post were in charge. Out-of-town relatives at the funeral were: Tom Halstead, Fred Halstead, Ernest Halstead, Arthur Halstead, Joe Halstead, Wm. Salisburg, Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Kears and Mr. and Mrs. Hohn Thackery, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Blighten, all of Emmetsburg, Ia; Mr, and Mrs. Glen Blighten of Valley Junction, Ia; Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Gray and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warner, of Grand Meadow; Mrs. Jack Rondeau of Detroit, Mich., Miss May Dobosn, Mr. and Mrs. Hallet Dobson, Mr and Mrs. Clarence Dobson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dobson, and Mr. and Mrs. Hoe Dobson all of Blue Earth. ========================================================================= Copyright Deana Steel 2006.
