Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Donna From: I found this obituary about Thomas Fellows that was tucked into the "T. S. Fellows Family Bible". "Dr. T. S. Fellows passed away at this home in Floral City, Florida, Tuesday, July 1st, 1902. After a brief illness of a weeks duration, and the news of his death has cast a gloom over the entire neighborhood. Dr. T. S. Fellows had a host of warm friends thoughout this community, all of whom will never forget his many acts of kindness during his professional career in this county. As a physician he ranked high and was very successful during his practice in wells. Thomas Sylvester Fellows, was born in New Hampshire in 1827. He was united in marriage to Miss Flora E. Waterbury, August 8, 1850. At an early age he entered Harvard Medical School and graduated with honors in the Class of 52' for which time until his death he was a highly successful practicing physician. He was a personal friend of Oliver Wendell Holmes, who was Dean of the University from the time Mr. Fellows inetered the class until he graduated. In the year 1862, when this country was aparsely settled, and at a time great excitement and anxiety prevailed on account of the outbreak of Sious Indians, Dr. Fellows located Walnut Lake Township, residing there until 1870, when he removed to Wells, and the hardships he endured without complaint in visiting the sick and needy are very well remembered by the old settlers. January 7th, 1891, he had the sad misfortune to lose his beloved wife, Flora E. The Minnesota winters being too sever for him, he concluded to seek a warmer climate and in November 1893, he removed with family and brother George, to Floral City, Florida, where he resided up the time of his death. The remains were accompanied by his grandson, Howard Ogden, and reached this city last Monday morning, after a sad journey of three days and nights. Three daughters, Mrs. Kate Ogden, Mrs. Alta Merry of Floral City, Florida and Miss Florence Fellows of Wells, also seven grandchildren and one brother George survive him. The deceased was worthy member of the Masonic Lodge and had been for many years past. The funeral was held at the Church of Nativity, Monday afternoon at three o'clock, Rev. Mapson officiating. After the services in the church the remains were taken in charge by the Masonic Lodge and internment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, among them a wreath from the Masons and an emblem from the Eastern Star. It was with a great deal of regret and sorrow the Mr. George Fellows could not accompany the remains to their last resting place; he was however, unable to take the journey on account of ill health."
